Strong academic background is preferred as the Chinese education system is paying a lot of attention to academic subjects and AFS schools in China are usually top schools

· Program Description:
Imagine all that you can learn and experience by spending a year living and studying in china. Here you will begin to feel that you are a part of one of the most complex societies in the world by living with your host family and attending an academically elite school.
You will stay in a typical Chinese home. Sharing meals together and having real man-made steamed bread, dumplings, spring rolls and many other delicious local foods there.
To attend a local high school, uniforms are required and classes are lecture-style, with required courses in Mandarin, the primary dialect spoken in china, as well as math, chemistry and physics. In the school, you will join in the group to do exercises and eyes massage. Though the stress of the Chinese student is very heavy, their after-class activities are rich and colorful.
Do you want to join the Kong Fu community or the handicraft art community? As you make new friends with your Chinese classmates, you will develop an understanding of today’s Chinese society.
We will offer the participants three booklets as Welcome to China, Safety Tips and My AFS Year Book.
· Language Lessons and Extra Activities :
3 Months intensive Chinese class will be provided by the host school for AFS participants
· Material and Orientations:
AFS Egypt will provide you with handbook including safety tips, language material and some tourist materials

China is so vast in area (the third largest country after Russia and Canada) and in population (one-fifth of humanity) that almost anything said about the nation could be true. It is crowded (in cities) and sparsely settled (in remote rural areas); the Chinese are one people, yet the government recognizes 55 ethnic minorities; the Chinese revere centuries-old traditions, but they also embrace Western fashions, music and fast food; ancient architecture survives alongside modern buildings. Chinese people are friendly and welcoming, and country dwellers are especially down-to-earth and warm-hearted. In sum, China is diverse, huge and internationally important.
